I have a new ceramic tray to replace a cracked one in my GE Micrwv convection oven- How do I install it?
This ceramic tray is the floor for the oven, and has a rubber strip around the edges. I’m afraid to remove the old cracked tray since it is in 3 large pieces. Is there something important under it that can be damaged if one of the pieces touches it? After removal of the damaged tray, can I just set the new one in place without any extra adhesive or caulking?
You have to cut the silicone between the tray and the walls. Then remove all old pieces of the tray, get as much silicone off as you can, then install new tray and silicone it around all edges. Just don’t overdo it. Silicone is there to keep spillage and other crap from going under it during use. Let dry a good 24 hours before using it.
